CONNOR ROFF LOVER, YOU SHOULD’VE COME OVER
Connor Roff has today dropped a enigmatic take on what is arguably Jeff Buckley’s best, most beautiful track, ‘Lover, You Should’ve Come Over’. Roff ditches the noisy textures of the original introduction and replaces Buckley’s shimmering acoustic guitar chords with restrained, delicate piano. Instead of a hectic climax full of countermelodies and dissonance, Roff favours something more ethereal, layering angelic backing vocals beneath a powerful lead vocal. Roff explains this choice as stemming from the desire to “create an atmosphere wrapped in harmonies that felt like a big warm hug, especially during this difficult time.” Be sure to check out some of Connor Roff’s original tracks, too. -Dan Peeke
